So, yesterday was the big day. I worked 8am-12noon and went home for a rest and a shower - it was a quite busy and warm morning.
The TV people were supposed to be here at 3.15pm but when I got back in at 2.45pm (approx) they were already out the back, on their bikes and ready to go. So all of you hoping I would get my mug on TV - sorry to disappoint you but I wasn't even here.
Everything seemed to run smoothly and I met the production crew and the family when they came back in and everyone seemed really nice. Lorne & Rod went out riding with the family so if you see it and they show 2 guys biking with the family wearing navy polo tops with Snowtips written on them, the smaller guy is Lorne and the really tall guy with lots of hair - that's Rod.
They all seemed to enjoy themselves which was a bonus considering about 10 minutes after they left it bucketed down. The rain was so heavy that in the 10 minutes that it rained there were puddles in the gutters out the front of the shop. Luckily by that stage they were near the Indian Trading Post on the other side of the river and they all took shelter under their front verandah section.
Not to worry, our guys took care of them, the sun came out and they continued on their way.
Today, I am back at work - 8am-4pm, the last day on my 7 days straight. I am exhausted and am going to crash when I get home. I am looking forward to missing most of Monday morning with a huge sleep in.
Jason has gone downhill mountain biking to Kicking Horse today with Adam, Jeremy & Christopher so he won't be back until late I'm guessing. Although Adam has to go pick up his wife Lorraine from the airport tonight so I don't think they'll be too late.
Anyway, that's all for right now.
Ciao

You just can't pick it..
It is a beautiful day in Banff today. Was a little cold this morning but the sun is shining and has been most of the day.
Why are we so quiet. On such a lovely day I would think that everyone would be climbing over each other to rent bikes and go for a ride but most of them seem to be lining up at the cinema next door to go see a movie - probly Batman!!
We were busier yesterday when the weather was crappy, overcast and raining!!
You just can't pick it.

Extreme Makeover: Work Edition
Well, here I am at work again - the 4th day of a 7 day stretch. I'm tired already and I still have 3 days to go.
Saturday I'm doing 9 hrs as a split shift. I work 8am-midday and then 3pm-8pm. Normally the second part of the shift would be 4-8 but we have a special day on the Saturday. Those of you with cable may be familiar with a program called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with Ty Pennington. They take families that are having hardships for various reasons - usually due to illness or death of a parent or something like that - and they usually tear down their house and build them a new one in 1 week. While they do this, they send the families on a holiday so they don't know what's going on with their house.
Well, the latest family whose house is being made over is being sent to Banff for their holiday and on Saturday they will be coming into our shop - complete with TV crew, cameras and all that stuff - and renting bikes and going for a ride around Banff. So I have to come in to be here when they are here to make sure everything runs smoothly and that any other customers are looked after. Should be interesting!! I will post an update once all the excitement has died down. In the meantime, those in the States/Canada can watch out for the show and those in Aus - it might be a while before it is shown over there but keep an eye out as well - I might just get my ugly mug on TV...
Nothing else really exciting happening this week. We had dinner with Jason's boss and his family last night - it was impromptu as we were only going there so Jason could get paid, but they were at Byron's mum's house so we went there and they offered us leftovers - presumably from Byron's daughters wedding on the weekend. We had hamburgers and salad and then some amazing cottage cheese crepes and a vanilla sponge with whipped cream and fresh stewed strawberries over the top of it all.
That's about it to report at the moment. I have Monday/Tuesday off next week so at least one of those days I am going to take my laptop into the internet cafe and do a few updates with photos and some stories of what I've been doing. I really should have thought of this earlier but ah well, you get that.
Hope you are all well and loving life as much as I am right now.

Welcome
Welcome to my new blog everyone.
I have set this up so that I can post what I have been doing and photos and all that sort of thing, then I'll be emailing this to all of you (which you would already have or you wouldn't be reading this..) and then if I update the blog and you don't read it, then it's not my fault.
There, that's my disclaimer.
Stay tuned for more updates..
