Just thought I'd write this down so that I remember this
When Jason & I left for work this morning it was -22. The temperature has slowly been going up, currently (at 10am) it is -18 and the expected top today is -10.
Sounds lovely doesn't it?
And the snow is coming down oh so lightly out there - at least I think it's snow - it may be little ice crystals - haven't been out there to check it out yet.
That's it, just wanted you all to know that piece of info so you don't complain about the winter cold in Oz again!!

Finally...
It has snowed. It started last night probably about 9 and when Jason and I got up this morning to go to work, there was a blanket of white - maybe between 3-5cm all over. He had to scrape the ice off his windscreen and brush the snow off the car but it was so beautiful.
There was no wind today - or barely any wind anyway so the walk to work was quite pleasant - at -4 degrees C - my face got a little cold but not unbearable and my feet really weren't cold at all. It's currently -7 but I'm nice and warm at work right now.
Although the next couple of days are going to be quite chilly. Tomorrow is supposed to be a high of -9 and a low of -14, Thursday should be a high of -6 and a low of -20, Friday (for my first ski lesson) will be a high of -2 and a low of -19 with some snow.
Should be fun..
I'll let everyone know how I go once my ski lesson is done - that's if I can walk - I've been warned that my legs are going to be sore in a way they never have been before!!

Things and thoughts..
Not much has been happening lately - working and trying not to spend too much money - at the moment I guess everyone knows what that's like.
Most of the snow we had the last couple of weeks has either melted or turned to ice - something I found out rather painfully last Wednesday. I left home and had walked down the end of our street and was about to cross the bridge before the railway lines and I stepped out with my right foot and it slid out from under me. Because my left leg was already slightly bent, it buckled underneath me and my knee went *smack* down onto the ice and gravel. It was so sore, I had to ring my boss and tell him I had hurt myself and couldn't walk the rest of the way to work - crying as I was doing it.
As it was, it took me less than 5 minutes to walk to where I fell, but about 12 mins to walk back, including going up the stairs to our place. I immediately grabbed a package of frozen corn from the freezer, wrapped it in a tea towel and put it on my knee. It's not too bad now, I got a hole in my knee - although my jeans weren't torn so that's lucky - and some nice bruising, the external part of which is already yellowing but there is some deeper bruising I can see.
Walking normally is ok now but going up and down stairs is still a little hard - although that's getting better too. Unfortunately it puts my plans to learn skiing back by a week or so which I'm not happy about. Anyway, enough of my whingeing..
Our winter hours at the shop start next Monday, Dec 1 and I will be working Sunday to Thursday with Friday/Saturday off. It suits me, actually it's almost a perfect roster - it's exactly what I asked for pretty much so I'm happy. It will be hard to keep up my 2nd job cause the shop closes at 9pm so all of my shifts finish at 9 and I would then have to go clean. But I think I can do it, the bus depot cleaning only takes me between 1.5 hrs and 2 hrs most days and then I can get up the next morning and go in with Jason and do the job centre cleaning which takes 45 mins at most.
There is a hockey game on this weekend - its not Flames but the Calgary Hitmen playing and it's their annual Teddy Toss game. The way it works is that when the Hitmen score their first goal, each person throws a teddy bear onto the ice. Those at the back throw theirs as far as they can and whoever catches it throws it further and so on until it's on the ice. Then they clean up all the teddy bears and give them to charity. We are hoping to go if we can get tickets so that should be fun for my 2nd hockey game ever.
On a high note, I had someone add me on facebook the other day - nothing unusual about that but I didn't recognise the name and at first I didn't recognise the face in the photo either. After looking at it for a few minutes, I suddenly realised this was a girl who lived in the same court as me from 1980 to 1985. Nicole, Andrea (lived across the road) and I used to hang out together a lot in the centre of our court, we also made fun of my sister for the way she dressed (she had her own ideas on what colours should go together but hey, this was the 80's). I was in the internet cafe - where I am now - and I was so blown away that she had tracked me down that I nearly swore out loud - LOL. I had tried to find her but assumed she was married and couldn't find her through her maiden name - it was almost impossible. But she found me!!!
Anyway, I think I have to go now - time's almost up and I shouldn't bore people too long, I'll just have to post the rest of my thoughts soon..

The snow is falling...
and has been most of the night from what I saw when I got up at 5am this morning.
It's still falling and at one of the local ski fields there has been 12cm overnight. Driving is a little hairy - Jason's truck has 4WD thank goodness, but we still slid a little on the way to work this morning.
Oh and by the way, it is currently 1pm and a fantastic -2 degrees C!!!!
Not much to report - working heaps, trying to keep warm and not spend too much money - other than that I'm happy, healthy (well mostly - I have a sore throat at the moment which tends to go away during the day) and having a ball.

More Photos..
Not too many but some I have played with doing "Selective Colouring" that my sister showed me how to do.
If you want to know how to do it, it's quite simple, you could read her tutorial on her blog which is at http://cathiscraps.blogspot.com/
Now, I have posted a few new photos in my Canada album. Jason and I were supposed to go out with Laura for the night but he got sick so it ended up being a girls night out. We went to St James Gate (the Irish/Celtic pub in town) and watched a band called 'The boys of St James Gate' who were awesome. Their lead singer is in one of the pictures. The pics are on show at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=57490&l=9183c&id=523436299
Also, the photos I have played around with the colouring on can be seen at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=61259&l=171e4&id=523436299
So, enjoy and let me know what you think..
